SCABS 2025 Pale Ale Show Case & Judging. May 3rd 2025

Hi Brewers,

For our first brewing event of 2025, we will get together to share, critique, and judge the Pale Ale styles submitted by our members.

We have selected a range of styles for this event to give the brewers a wide range of ingredients and methods to experiment with.

-American Pale Ale (18B) – Hoppy, citrusy, and balanced with a clean malt backbone.

-English Pale Ale (Ordinary Bitter – 11A, Best Bitter – 11B, Strong Bitter – 11C) –Malty with English hop character, lower carbonation, and moderate bitterness.

-Australian Sparkling Ale (12B) – Fruity, malty, with lively carbonation and moderate hop presence.

-Belgian Pale Ale (24B) – Light caramel malt backbone with subtle Belgian yeast character (fruity, spicy).

We will taste and analyse our beers, marking together in the BJCP format to get helpful feedback on the day.

Bring three PET or 1.5L  of your beer to share and pour for marking.

There will be plenty of food provided. Date 03/05/2025

Tickets are $20pp (to cover the cost of food and beers)

Exact location will be provided to attendees closer to the event – Maleny area.
